How we secured corporate data for a financial firm – even on lost devices

Problem

A financial services firm allowed staff to open Office 365 and SharePoint from any device — personal laptops, home computers, unmanaged phones. Nothing checked whether the device was encrypted, patched or even password-protected. For a firm handling sensitive client data, every lost laptop or phishing incident was a potential data breach, and the firm had no way to prove control over its data to auditors.

Solution

• Technopeak deployed Microsoft Entra ID and Intune as a single identity and device-management layer, with Autopilot streamlining the setup of every new device
• Conditional access policies now allow only trusted, compliant devices from approved locations to reach Office 365 and SharePoint
• Local data encryption was enforced on all managed devices for additional protection
• Device compliance is monitored continuously, so a device that falls out of policy loses access automatically

• Unauthorized devices are blocked from accessing sensitive systems — even if passwords and 2FA are compromised
• Any lost or stolen device can be remotely wiped through Intune within minutes, keeping client data protected
